This section page information on camouflage schemes and markings of the Me 262. Individual aircraft profiles are also featured.

Whole books can and are written on the subject of camouflage schemes of the Me 262, the information featured here will provide a general overview of the markings worn by the Me 262. The 262 carried two standard camouflage patterns. The original scheme consisted of an upper surface pattern of Grey-Green and Grey-Violet with Light Blue on the undersurfaces, fuselage and tail fin sides. The sides were a combination of Black Green, Grey-Green and Grey.

Late in 1944 the late war colors were phased in and this scheme consisted of Brown-Violet and Bright Green on the upper surfaces, with undersurfaces, fuselage and tail fin sides in Light Blue.

These are the typical schemes of the 262 but, late in the war the general brake down of supplies in Germany led to a wide variety of schemes and colors being used. Photographs that cover these colors are rare and most are black and white which are always open to interpretation. Color photos or sometimes actual paint chips are found but are very rare and all but one surviving 262 has been repainted.

These are late war color schemes of 1945.
